Come out and celebrate classic car culture with a local spin at the Annual Woodward Dream Cruise. The event takes place during August and is your chance to take part in and see many great-looking cars. We at Suburban Ford of Waterford are always happy to share news about Michigan events. Also, be sure to check out Mustang Alley on the corner of East 9 Mile and Woodward, it’s a favorite spot for many!

Dream Cruise background

It’s hard to believe the Dream Cruise is already passed its 18th year. What began as a local fund raiser for the Ferndale soccer field in 1995 is now the world’s largest one-day automobile event. That is quite the achievement!

Did we mention that the Dream Cruise typically attracts more than 1 million visitors? Expect to see more than 40,000 muscle cars, custom and collector vehicles, street rods and special interest automobiles.

It happens every third Saturday in August, and its intention is to celebrate classic cars. It is fitting that the event takes place in Metro Detroit, where the American auto was born.

This year’s Dream Cruise in Woodward

This year, the Dream Cruise takes place between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The vehicles cruise along the 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue, through eight communities that include Berkley, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, and Pleasant Ridge.

It is free to drive in the Dream Cruise and to watch the outdoor event. Public parking is available near and along the cruise route, and there are many local hotels to stay in, too. The event has a family-friendly atmosphere and is alcohol-free. It supports more than 100 local charities, thanks to refreshments at the event and Dream Cruise merchandise.

Start dreaming about spending the day around sleek, outstanding vehicles as you join in the celebrations at the Woodward Dream Cruise!
